Should I eat the apple?
An apple is a sweet and juicy fruit which crunches the tasty buds of our tongues. A healthy and well-desired fruit that attracts many by it's reddish freshness. Many ll be tempted to take a bite at it. However, who shall realize that it is actually rotten from within?
In the story of Snow White, the devious witch convinced the innocent Snow White
to consume her apple. And in the end, she 'died' because the apple was poisonous and was rescued by the charming prince's love kiss.
It's true that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. However, we must realize that some apples are actually rotten yet as reddish as a fresh apple. Sin is just like a rotten apple and temptation is the reddish outlook of the rotten apple that entices us to consume it.
In Genesis 3, the bible talks about Adam and Eve disobeying God's commandment
and consuming the fruit of knowledge in the Garden of Eden. After that, they became knowledgeable and since then sin was rooted to humans.
Sometimes we can't resist the temptation to consume the seemingly tasty yet rotten apple. It can be due to hunger or gluttony. These may seem exagerated though, but the point is that we can't let our desires to blind us from realizing that the apple is actually rotten, only if we examine the apple closely. Similarly, if we refuse to give in to temptations, we can prevent ourselves from making grave mistakes. Having kids due to pre-marital sex, drug addicion and crimes are some grave mistakes which we can stop only if we think thrice before acting.
Hence, we should examine the apple before eating. By doing so, we can make our lives more meaningful for the glory of the Lord because we are the temple of the Holy Spirit!
